Hawaiian Banana Bread

This is a recipe I got from a nurse at the hospital who loved to cook. We love this bread, it's got lots of spice like pumpkin pie. It's even better the next day.

Hawaiian Banana Bread
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
6 ripe bananas
4 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Cream shortening and sugar. Thoroughly mash bananas, add to creamed mixture. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift dry ingredients & spices and then add to banana mixture, blending thoroughly. Add pecans. Spread into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350* for 45-50 minutes.
