Oak Lane Ward Young Women's Cake

When I was home for Christmas, Kathy Rash gave me this recipe. I believe it was originally LaDonna Davis' recipe. Every time a girl got their Young Womanhood Recognition Award, this cake was made for them. It was so good and has a lot of memories tied to it.

1 3/4 c shortening & margarine
3 c sugar
6 eggs
6 c flour
2 Tbsp. baking powder
1 3/4 tsp salt
2 tsp flavoring
2 1/4 c milk

Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Beat eggs, mix with shortening. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Bake in 12x16" pan at 350 for 30-40 minutes.
Make a frosting using 2 1/2 cubes butter.

Yikes, no wonder why it was so good. What's the flavoring?

I'm not sure, probably vanilla or almond extract?
